Spiaggia del Principe (Prince Beach)
is a beautiful corner of nature considered among the most beautiful of the Emerald Coast (Costa Smeralda)
, along the north-eastern part of Sardinia. It's a great arc of fine sand bordered by rocks and surrounded by the Maquis shrubland, divided into two parts by a group of rocks that emerges on the shoreline. The shallow sea makes Spiaggia del Principe an ideal destination for families with children
, but the irresistibly romantic atmosphere of the place also attracts many young couples. The water is crystal clear and reflects the brilliance of the fragments of granite on the seabed.
It seems that Spiaggia del Principe owes its name to an alleged preference of Karim Aga Khan IV
, the undisputed architect of the tourist development of the Emerald Coast in the 60s and the protagonist of the gossip columns of the island. Hard to blame him: the wild and lonely nature of this place has given birth to a beautiful mosaic of colors
made from white sand, from the pink granite rocks, from the green of the Maquis and from the blue and turquoise sea.
The fame of Spiaggia del Principe has deservedly reached the four corners of the globe. Therefore, to fully enjoy it, you should carefully choose the time to go there
in order to avoid overcrowding. Moreover it seems that the best time to admire the undeniable beauty of the beach are just the early morning hours, when the water is generally calm and the sea shows all its emerald nuances.
To reach Spiaggia del Principe
by car, follow the signs from Olbia to the Emerald Coast and then take the turning for Cala di Volpe. Immediately after the eponymous hotel, turn right towards the town of Romazzino, and after about a mile, leave the car and walk on a dirt path that in about 10 minutes finally leads to the beach.
